Wellbeing Scan

Performed from 24 weeks of pregnancy.

Some parents-to-be want extra reassurance that their baby is growing as expected in pregnancy, or just want to check on the wellbeing of their little one. The NHS offers growth scans in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy to women at high risk of having growth problems, but these often don't start until after 32 weeks.

At The Pregnancy Experts we can perform assessment of your baby's wellbeing and growth from 24 weeks of pregnancy and any time in your pregnancy - even past your due date!

Our specialist consultant or midwife will perform a thorough assessment of your baby's growth. These measurements will be used to calculate your baby's estimated weight and this will be plotted onto a growth chart to ensure your baby is measuring within the normal range.

We will also assess your baby's presentation, their movements and the amount of fluid around your baby. Additionally the position of the placenta and blood flow through the umbilical cord will be checked to ensure your placenta is functioning normally.

It is usually possible to tell the sex of your baby from this scan if you wish to know, but this becomes more difficult as you reach the end of your pregnancy.
