The Pregnancy Experts was founded by couple Martin Maher & Jennifer Todd, both of whom have extensive experience of maternity care.
Martin is a Consultant Obstetrician specialising in high risk obstetrics and fetal medicine. Jennie is a dual-trained nurse and midwife who is additionally qualified in fetal scanning.
They have a combined NHS experience of over 25 years and hold senior positions within the local maternity unit.
Having provided care to hundreds of families over the years within the NHS, particularly to those with complex pregnancies, they identified the need to provide high quality care privately.
They pride themselves on their high quality service and evidence based practice. Utilising their extensive experience and qualifications they ensure that your pregnancy wellbeing is at the centre of the care you receive at The Pregnancy Experts.
Martin Maher
MBChB (Hons) MRCOG
Martin is a Consultant Obstetrician specialising in high risk obstetrics & fetal medicine & is dedicated to improving the outcomes for women with complex pregnancies. He has extensive experience in ultrasound practice. Since starting as an NHS consultant in 2016 he has developed the local Fetal Medicine Unit into a regional referral service.
He commenced the Placenta Clinic in 2017 for women with fetal growth restriction and the Rainbow Clinic in 2019 for women who have experienced a previous pregnancy loss.
He is currently the Clinical Director of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, the Clinical Lead for Maternity for the Lancashire & South Cumbria region and is the Ultrasound Training Lead for the North West School of O&G.
He has previously sat on the Council for the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) representing NW England and contributed to numerous local/national/international publications.
Martin is a strong advocate of ensuring that all pregnancies, no matter how complex, receive the right level of care and families are supported to make informed choices about their pregnancy journey - something he actively promotes through The Pregnancy Experts.
Jennifer Todd
BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing & PGDip (Dist) Midwifery
Jennie is a dual qualified, registered Midwife who has worked in the NHS since 2012.
Jennie has been a qualified Midwife Sonographer since 2018, with extensive experience in third trimester ultrasound. She works closely with the local Fetal Medicine Unit, managing pregnancies complicated by fetal growth problems.
She is very friendly, compassionate and ensures women are at the centre of their care. Being a midwife and sonographer places her in an ideal position to support both low risk and complex pregnancies ensuring that women, no matter how complicated their pregnancy, receive the best quality care.
She strives to provide the highest standards of practice and is committed to ensuring women and their families receive a positive experience.
