3D/4D ultrasound scan

A 3D/4D High-Definition ultrasound scan can be performed between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy offering a detailed view of your baby's face and limbs.

Expectant parents often choose this scan as a meaningful way to bond with their baby and to involve family members in this special moment. The 4D scan enhances the 3D experience by adding real-time movement, similar to a video, allowing you to see your baby in action. We utilise the very latest ultrasound technology to provide a HD Live view of your baby. This experience will be recorded and sent to you electronically following your scan.

While 4D scans are typically not medically necessary, they can provide valuable information if your baby has complications, such a facial condition such as cleft lip/palate or limb problems.

At The Pregnancy Experts we always prioritise your baby's wellbeing and a thorough assessment of growth and development is performed routinely with every scan.

To achieve a clear view of your baby's face, the scan may take longer than 40 minutes. If the baby is not in an optimal position, you may be encouraged to take a short walk or have a cold drink to stimulate movement. If we are unable to capture a clear image of your baby's face during the appointment, we will be happy to provide a complimentary rescan.

We offer extended appointment times above other providers to ensure you have ample time for both you and your baby.

The best time for a 4D scan is between 26-32 weeks of pregnancy, when there is sufficient amniotic fluid and the baby has not yet grown too large. Visibility may be affected if the placenta is positioned at the front of the womb or if the baby has limbs in front of their face. You may also see your baby yawning or stretching during the scan.

Appointment duration: 45 minutes.
